It was lovely in my studio today. The side of my house faces south, so when it’s sunny, my rooms are flooded with warm, healing sunlight. I love natural daylight and am so grateful to have it. I lived for one long year in a condo/cave and couldn’t sell that house fast enough.
I started tinkering around with some 5x7 collage postcards, realized I didn’t have the right papers and decided to print some. My favorite art-making process is mono-printing, which I do on an 8x10 gel plate. It is fricken magic. It is the kind of art that literally anyone can do, even those who insist they are not creative.
By the end of my session I had printed 30+ pages of gorgeous papers in interesting neutrals like navy blue, yellow ochre, and raw umber - a warm brown that loves navy & ochre. Since my studio is tiny - just 7x10, I tape them to my shelves to dry rather than spreading them out on the floor. Here’s a view of about a third of my prints. See what I mean? Raw umber loves everyone. BTW, almost none of these prints work on my vivid teal and blue 5x7 postcards. I’ll have to try again another day. TTYL.
